I went to five shows this tour.
July 20 - Chautauqua, NY
July 21 - Columbus, OH
July 23 - Sterling Heights, MI
August 10 - Cary/Raleigh, NC
August 11 - Asheville, NC
but the only one I actually took time to write a review for was columbus and here it is...i was sitting 2nd row in the group of people with the glowing yellow shirts. This was my eighth concert ever and i personally think it was the best by far!!!!
He entered with Here You Come Again was he walked behind the orchestra and kind of popped out of nowhere. He was wearing a tanish colored suit coat with a white shirt underneath with what looked to be jeans and some loafer shoes.Vocals sounded STUNNING as usual, you could tell the crowd was getting into it
Next was Everything I Have, as usual his vocals were spot on and the crowd was really enjoying it! I know i sure did but hey i enjoyed the whole entire concert.
I Want to Know What Love Is was one of the best songs of the night. He and Quiana's vocals were amazing, i absolutely love the tour version of the song alot more than the cd one with Suzie McNeil. It just seemed like Quiana's voice was more fitted for this song compared to suzies but hey thats just my own opinion.
Then there was a little bit of a banter after IWTKWLI, he spoke to Ethel who had her usual "Yes, I'm Ethel" shirt on and she showed him a shirt that she had for him that said "Yes, I'm Clay Aiken" she was able to get it up on stage and he held it up in front of himself and it was really about three sizes too big and he commented saying "Have I gained this much weight??!? I could cover my car with it" Then he went on commenting about how many males there were in the audience, he continued on to joke that "Either the women of columbus are strong willed or the mens alcohol tab is going to be high tonight"
Continuing his banter he spotted out the group of people with the saftey yellow shirts sitting the majority of them in the 2nd row *hmmm wonder who that could be HAHAHHA* he said "And there's these, these yella shirts....look like traffic cops, everywhere, and you're all sitting together in this whole general area [speaking of the 2nd row table seats]" and it was definitely a highlight.
Then he went on to talk about the letter a lady gave quiana about him being "fat" and then went on to say something about performing in a chemically contaminated field and then said something like "No wonder my hair was falling out earlier"
Then went on to pretty much laugh at some guy who had a big bottle of booze in front of him asking if he had drank it all already and the guy was like "nope 3/4 of it though" and what not.
Next was When I See You Smile. Last night when he sang this i couldnt help but get the biggest smile on my face, it was just amazing and it made me realize how much fun i've had thanks to him over the past four years.
After that he sang Every Time You Go Away, one of the best songs of the night again. Everytime i hear him sing this song i want to cry especially when he says "everytime you go away, you take a piece of me with you" because that's the way i feel the day after concerts, for some reason i get all sad because i feel like i wont see him again when i really will. amazing vocals with this!!!
Theme medley banter first. The orchestra did an outstanding job on the West Wing theme song. But the highlight of my night at this concert was when he was going on about watching too much tv. He said how he was always sitting around watching tv and eating krispy kreme doughnuts. Then i seriously screamd WOOOHOO YEAHHHHH and he was like "You don't know what your screaming about, do you" and i screamed again and he was like "I can say anything.....carburetor" and i yelled again and he laughed at me. that was an amazing moment.
Theme Medley was great! the cue card thing in chautauqua made it so much more fun but i still loved it. vocals again were spot on through-out the whole medley. When he sang Always and Forever in both cities it was GREAT i never expected him to sing it. When Quiana did the Charles In Charge Theme song she blew it out of the lawn. I do admit the best part of the medley was when Ange sang Movin On Up, she put so much soul into it even blew clay away i bet.
These Open Arms had to be one of the most tender moments of the whole night. Such a sweet song i love it!
When the Lights Go Down makes me think of the end of concerts for some reason, like all the lights are going down and clay is leaving the stage and i get all sad. But she did an OUTSTANDING job!!!
Intermission
A Thousand Days was a total sing along, every true to life Clay Aiken fan was singing/mouthing along and EEEEing. Truly amazing. The whole audience seemed to be capitvated by the power of his voice, at the end he let quiana take the Reach out for ME glory note which sounds better when he does it but who knows if he will ever try to hit it live again.
Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word made him sing with so much emotion, but he totally did this song justice. I loved it, i am so happy that he actually sang it!!! But i wish he would have added maybe Broken Wings instead but i'm happy with whatever he sings.
Measure of a Man was also another mouthing the words song. Everyone who is a true clay fan that was in the audience that night was mouthing the words and we all got into it. It was amazing, i was overwhelmed with emotions and started crying because it made me think of how strong of a person Clay Aiken really is and how much he strives on the support from his loving fans
Without You he sounded so angelic, like he was trying to sing it to someone special. His voice kind of cracked during the I CAN LIVEEE IF LIVING IS WITHOUT YOUUU part on friday night but he redeemed himself and it was amazing.
My favorite song part of the night had to have been The Classics medley. At the beginning of the night our group passed out the lyrics for The Way You Make Me Feel because we all know he doesnt know all the words to it. The MC of the night announced that lyrics were passed out and such. He came out trying to sing it and then he came out into the audience and pointed the mic in random audience members faces and tried to have them sing the words. But over all he had the audience as a whole sing the song. Baby Got Back was HILARIOUS as always, right into Like a Virgin where he does the put his arm on his head and danced around so so so funny. Then Quiana started singing Bills Bills Bills she was stunning, clay started trying to be "hip" it was crazy. 1999 was also too cute he was really getting into this one. She Thinks my Tactor's Sexy is my main favorite of this medley, he was dancing with Quiana moving his arms in a circle like he was steering a tractor. When they sang Oops I Did It Again i can promise all of the females in the audience were singing along. The most entertaining part was O.P.P. he was all dancing all over the place and jumping like YEH YEW DOWN WIT O P P you could tell he was so energetic. Yeah was fun too, hearing him attempt to rap is a classic in itself. SexyBack was so fun to watch because Clay, Angie and Quiana and Angie had so much chemistry when they were dancing together. Achy Breaky Heart was too cute, you could tell he was bringing his country roots out to show everyone, he had the audience singing along and he kept sayin YEE HAW and that. It was so adorable, Opposites Attract was the most adorable thing ever. I love the way his voice sounds when he does "You go to bed early and I PARTY ALL NIGHT". Beat It was good too loved it.
Then came time for Angie's solo. Listen from Dreamgirls, this had to be BY FAR the best female vocal of the night. Clay commented afterwards saying "I was watching for her larnyx to fly out and hit someone in the audience" The girl has got some really strong pipes!!!!
Lover All Alone was by far the most tender moment of the night i must say. You could tell he was thinking of whoever he was thinking of at the time when he wrote the song, i teared up because he sounded and looked kind of sad and depressed. Even though I heard from a M&G report from sterling heights that he claimed he was thinking about what he was going to have for dinner after the show LOL he is such a dork.
Then he says "Well folks, our time together has come to an end" at which point i about pretty much started bawling my eyes out. He thanked the orchestra and thanked his fans for being so supportive over the past four years through all of the bull that had been thrown into his lap.
The final song Because You Loved Me made me cry so bad, you could truly see by the body language he was showing to the audience that he truly meant every word he was singing [sorry im tearing up as i write this]. As had happend the night before when he got to the part that says "Through the lies YOU were the truth" the whole audience stood up in an uproaring applause showing their respect and support for him no matter what.
wooo YEAH AND I GOT MY THIRD HANDSHAKE yayayaya
