I wrote this for school, the one I turned in wasn't so um... Clayfan-ish ;D
This is the revised edition!! lol
Walking into the Shubert Theater, in New York City, I felt a twinge of excitement. I was actually going to get to see a Broadway show!! I couldn’t believe that after wishing for this exact moment for years, it was finally happening.
The usher lead me to my seat and I eagerly skimmed through my playbill, noticing advertisements for other shows, wishing I had time to see all of them. Looking around at the beautiful theater, I noticed a group of middle-aged women sitting altogether, giggling and talking excitedly. I just figured they were on a girls retreat or something of the sort. Shrugging it off I turned back to reading my playbill. “Spamalot: Lovingly ripped off the motion picture Monty Python and the Holy Grail…”
After a few minutes I was starting to get fidgety and decided to make a quick trip to the ladies room, don’t want to miss anything during the show!! The line was long but I decided to wait it out. I was standing in front of another group of middle-aged women who were giggly and awfully excited about something, another girls retreat? Hmm. The line began to move forward more quickly, and I was able to get back to my seat in plenty of time.
Glancing at the cast of characters I noticed a name that sounded familiar. Clay Aiken. Where had I heard that name…? Oh!! American Idol!! That was it!! Connecting the dots, I realized who the women were here for. It was not evident at the time, but now it was hard not to notice!! I smiled to myself, thinking that they got all giddy about this guy like a teenager swooned over a high school crush. My thoughts were interrupted and the lights went down. I could hear various “shhh’s”, and quiet laughter from the crowd, anticipating the performance. Then the spotlight came up and the show began…
After the first scene my sides were hurting from laughing so hard and I was starting to believe that no other show could top this. There was one other thought running through my mind. Why haven’t I noticed Clay Aiken before??
The rest of the show following intermission I tried my best to stay concentrated but found myself watching Mr. Aiken and wondering if I was just star-struck or if this guy really did have something special about him. I went with the latter and kept my eyes glued to him until the very end. From the very beginning when he had poked his head out of the tower, the, Claymates was it? Had screamed at every little thing he did. I found it amusing and it made me wonder what it was about this guy. I made a note to find that out as soon as I was home!
When the show was over I felt disheartened but eager to research this guy. I wandered over to the giggling ladies, maybe I could get some information from them. Eavesdropping of course, they looked nuts, I wouldn’t want anyone thinking I was WITH them!! I could barely understand what they were saying, and when I could it made no sense! Clack? Wha? Stage door, ok that made sense, to an extent. The rest of what I heard… bottle dance….the ribbons…waldo?? While I am trying to figure all this out in my head, the women were heading outside and I decided that I would follow them. They had me curious!! I am swept up into a group of the women who all had cameras, phones and a playbill ready to be signed. Being as observant as I am, I put it together that Clay would be coming out to sign autographs and take pictures. I was so excited!! This was the first time I was going to get to see a celebrity up close!!! Two firsts in one night!!
When he had gone back inside I started walking back to my hotel in a daze. WOW… I kept thinking about him! I couldn’t help it, there just seemed to be something about him, a presence. And a loyal fan base, that’s for sure!
Google.com, C-l-a-y A-i-k-e-n, oh wow…
Hope ya liked it!!! ;D
